Transition to Fall

Labor Day Weekend is a truly special time here in Park City. We enjoy tempered summer seasons that never get too hot and allow our visitors to escape the heat down south. By the time Labor Day Weekend comes around, you will find that the weather and season are quickly changing. The fall season will be ready to set in with temps ranging from the 60s and lower. This is perfect flannel weather so you can start to prepare for the fall and eventual colder seasons in Park City.

Hit the Golf Course

Labor Day Weekend is a great time for dad and others to get ready for another round of golf. You will find that the summer season is especially popular for golf here in Park City with our higher elevation and cool weather. Take advantage of the final summer weather over Labor Day Weekend and book some tee time on the local green. Finding the closest golf course to your vacation rental sometimes is as easy as looking outside. You will find several popular golf courses here in Park City including the appropriately named Park City Golf Course, along with Wasatch Mountain Golf Course and Homestead Golf Club, to name a few. Booking your tee time well in advance of Labor Day Weekend is always encouraged, as it is a popular time to hit a few balls. Don’t miss out on this ever-popular summer time activity one last time for the season.

Check Out the Swiss Days Festival in Heber Valley

Just a short drive away from Park City, you will find the ever-charming town of Heber Valley. This local destination is typically a quiet and reserved community that will come alive over the Labor Day Weekend. This is when Heber Valley hosts their Swiss Days Festival that celebrates all things Swiss. Just along Midway Main Street, you will find hundreds of booths filled with local artisans, food vendors, and all kinds of live entertainment. Swiss Days Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday over Labor Day Weekend and brings in tens of thousands of visitors. Enjoy your stay in Park City and spend a few hours in Heber Valley for this charming festival. Additional activities also include their 10K race over the weekend. There is something for everyone to see at the Swiss Days Festival.

Hang Out on Historic Main Street

With the summer season coming to an end, Labor Day Weekend is a great time to unwind and take a stroll down Historic Main Street. This is where you can find all of the finest restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries that Park City is known for. Park City has a rich history in mining, and you can still see historic buildings standing to this day. Walk into the Park City Museum, where you can find interactive exhibits that hold artifacts and other interesting finds. It even houses the original basement jail that was used in the town’s past. If you are looking for the perfect lively atmosphere in the evening during the extended holiday weekend, hit up No Name Saloon. The name is perfectly given to this red brick venue with a vast selection of whiskey and beer, along with tasty pub fare. Historic Main Street has it all.

Take Advantage of the Trails

The warm weather is cooling off, giving you the perfect temps for a little bit of outdoor exploration. Park City is home to countless hiking trails that are available to explore when there is no snow on the ground. Many of these trails can easily be accessed right from the city, making them easy to reach. Check out local favorites, including Armstrong Trail, Dawns Trail Loop, and Silver Lake Trail. Many of these trails do not have extended shaded areas, making them perfect to hike this time of year. There are hikes for all experience levels, allowing your family to find the perfect trail for them.

Park City is Ready for Labor Day Weekend

Congratulations, lovebirds! You’re engaged to your soulmate and now comes the fun of planning your wedding. If you are an outdoorsy couple, then a mountain wedding may be the aesthetic you’re after when it comes to exchanging your vows. Just imagine being able to look into your partner’s eyes, surrounded by your loved ones and friends, in a picturesque mountain venue where the air is fresh and nature is witnessing you become bonded to the one you love. While we definitely encourage daydreaming about your mountain wedding, we want to make sure you’re as prepared as possible! As you can imagine, planning a wedding in the mountain has its perks but also its challenges. Here are 10 tips for planning your mountain wedding. It includes everything you need to know, and how Park City Vacation Rentals can help.

Book a Rental Today!

Narrow Down the Date

This sounds quite simple, but the date of your mountain wedding dictates everything! You’re in the mountains, seeking an outdoor wedding. In order not to be covered in snow due to a blizzard, or in the blazing sun during a heat wave – you have to consider your ideal date. You’ll want to settle on a date as soon as possible. Then the real planning can begin! This isn’t a knock on winter weddings – they can be absolutely spectacular and great for photos, what with the snowy trees and snow-capped mountains. But weather delays and cold snaps are a real threat. If considering a winter wedding, think early December or perhaps even early March. (It’s technically still winter!) Spring and fall offer their unique gifts to the mountains in the form of wildflowers or fall foliage. You both are sure to stun in any season, just narrow down your date so you can enjoy your special day to the fullest.

Dress For the Occasion

For a mountain wedding planning, you’ll want to wear something that keeps you comfortable and that is suitable (pun intended) for the location. While the bride might be waiting for her princess moment, a full ballgown might make it difficult for her to trek down the aisle along a forest path. And stilettos may cause a tripping or ankle-twisting hazard. None of this should be happening on your big day! Consider fashionable attire that is unique to your love story, and that honors your unique style and tastes, that works for the terrain and weather. Oftentimes layered, breathable fabrics and simple, chic shoes can keep you comfortable while allowing you to shine.

Have a Weather Backup Plan

They say rain or any weather event on your wedding day is good luck. While you may welcome that, you’ll still want to consider what to do in the event of poor weather. A sunny, warm afternoon might shift to cooler temps, rain clouds, fog, or even flurries! What will you do to keep you and your guests from being affected? Work with your venue and planner to have a backup space. It could be a lodge or tent that will keep the party going while everyone is sheltered from bad weather.

Consider the Guest List

Everyone will have an opinion on who you should be inviting. It will seem like the biggest need in the world for you to invite your great aunt Trudy, that weird family friend, or your mom’s coworker who watched you grow up. Silence the noise by having a good talk with your partner about the essential people you need to have at your mountain wedding. The last thing you need is drama! Considering the guest list comes in handy for organizing any necessary transportation to your wedding venue also.

Factor in Altitude

A mountain wedding means higher elevation. This factor can affect people differently. While adjusting to the higher altitude, your guests might experience some lightheadedness, fatigue and dehydration. Remind guests and loved ones to stay hydrated and take it easy during the first day or two of festivities.

Work with Local Vendors

Tap into the wealth of knowledge from local resources. They’ll know how to access your venue in the best way possible. Ask if your caterer uses local produce for a farm-to-table dining experience or choose a florist who will give you a one-of-a-kind bouquet using flowers native to the area. Working with local vendors will give you the peace of mind knowing everything will go off without a hitch for your mountain wedding.

Plan for Sound and Lighting

You’ll want to also consider the sound and lighting needs of your mountain wedding. After the sun sets, you’ll need adequate lighting to keep the party going. String lights, lanterns, uplighting or even a bonfire can add to the aesthetics of your mountain wedding and keep the party going all night. Ask your wedding venue and DJ what options are available so that you don’t experience any sound or lighting snafus.

Check Permits and Restrictions

Because some of the most stunning spots for a mountain wedding are located on public lands, you might need to acquire a permit if you’re going to have a large gathering with music or a tent. Local parks or national forests may also have fire bans or noise ordinances. You’ll want to do some research and consult your wedding planner or venue provider to make sure you keep things safe and in line with town ordinances.

Create Mountain Themed Welcome Gifts and Favors

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest impact. What would you love to have if you were traveling to spend time in the mountains? Create a care package or welcome basket for your guests to enjoy upon arrival to the area, or for those in the wedding party during the rehearsal dinner. You don’t have to break the bank, but it can be a little token of love and appreciation for everyone who made it out for your mountain wedding.

Don’t Overdo It on Décor

Simple is often best. For a mountain wedding, the surroundings speak for themselves. You don’t need to necessarily go crazy on décor. Complement the mountain aesthetics with local florals, candles, wood details and elements that really showcase who you and your partner are as a couple.

What could be better than a family reunion? A special trip planned where everyone gathers, you listen to stories from way back when, told in a way that only your grandpa can tell it. You catch up with your cousins that you haven’t seen in so long, who now have children of their own – which doesn’t help not making you feel old. And you remember all the reasons why you love your family. They’re not perfect, and sometimes they’re pretty crazy, but they’re yours, and you wouldn’t have them any other way.

Book a Rental Today!
As you dream up the perfect destination for a family reunion in Park City, you find yourself getting discouraged because the reality is that planning a family reunion (much like planning any family vacation) can be a bit like herding cats. Everyone has an opinion, different schedules, and is coming from a variety of locations. You need to pinpoint a destination that’s fun, easy to get to and memorable. Have you considered Park City, Utah?

You should! It’s chockfull of outdoor activities, family-friendly experiences, all in one beautifully unique mountain town. When you throw in a spectacular vacation rental like Weedon Ranch from Park City Vacation Rentals, you’re giving your family a luxury home that they’ll be excited to stay in. Here’s everything you need to know for planning an unforgettable family reunion in Park City.

What Makes a Great Family Reunion?

Getting everybody together in one central location is a tremendous feat. But creating a Park City family reunion getaway where you can have memorable experiences while spending time together. You need the elements that will keep everyone happy and engaged. And we need not forget the importance of simplicity! You want to plan a reunion without pulling all your hair out. Here’s some elements that you’ll want to include in your plans.

For starters you’ll want to secure some comfortable, spacious accommodations that have enough bathrooms (this is a necessity.) Next, you’ll need some group activities to plan that are both senior and kid friendly. Don’t forget to leave room in the itinerary for moments of relaxation and downtime. The location should be central, with easy access to the best attractions, entertainment and parks in the area. Park City is the place that can check all of these boxes and offer much more.

Choose Park City for Your Family Reunion

Maybe you’re on the fence trying to figure out what time of year to plan your reunion. No matter when you visit Park City, there’s always plenty to do. You’ll be close to ski-resorts like Park City Mountain and Deer Valley. If you come from a family of winter sport enthusiasts, you can ski, snowboard and tube all to your hearts content. On days when you’re not getting your winter sports on, you can go snowshoeing, ice skating, or just chill out. The best part will be being together.

In spring, summer, and fall, the snow thaws and the mountains come alive with warmth and wildflowers. Opportunities to get outside increase, so consider going on hikes, planning picnics, family bike rides, fishing, horseback riding, zip lining and so much more! There are plenty of local outfitters in the area where you can rent gear and organize a guided trip.

Family-Friendly Attractions

Visit historic Main Street and Junction Commons for a family shopping outing. Gather one-of-a-kind pieces for your home, matching clothing so everyone knows you’re together, and excellent souvenirs for the best family reunion you’ve ever had. If you need a little more adventure during your family reunion, there’s the Park City Alpine Slide or Utah Olympic Park. The kids will love getting to explore the area, run free and get all their energy out.

Be sure to grab a bite to eat at the excellent restaurants like No Name Saloon and the Twisted Fern. Their menu items will leave you wanting more and inspire you to recreate the dishes you’ve had during your family reunion in Park City.

Easy to Reach, Hard to Leave

For family flying into Salt Lake City Internation Airport, getting to Park City is only a 35 minute drive away. Once you’re in Park City, the free local bus system makes it easy to get around town, or you can rent a van (or multiple) to have the freedom and flexibility to travel on your terms.

Weedon Ranch Is Your Family Reunion Headquarters

Now that you know why Park City should be the destination of your upcoming family reunion, you’ll need a place to stay. While it may seem easy to just book multiple hotel rooms in the same hotel, you should treat yourself (and your family) to a luxury stay at Weedon Ranch, managed by Park City Vacation Rentals.

Room for Everyone

At Weedon Ranch, there’s room for the whole family to relax and rest comfortably. With 12 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, Weedon Ranch can unite up to 27 members of your family.  Gather together for moments of downtime around the firepit in your private outdoor space, play games in the game room, watch movies in the theater room or enjoy a homemade meal together.

Speaking of meals, Weedon Ranch has a full gourmet kitchen that has everything you need to cook family favorites during your stay. Grandma can make her pot roast, your mom can explore all of her casserole dishes, and your dad can become the resident grill master – as he always does. There’s plenty of dining space, too, with large tables perfect for sharing a meal, telling old stories, and making happy memories.

And if you ever need a moment to yourself, the space is large enough where you can carve out a little nook for yourself to read, write, reflect, or do a little work (if you must.) Weedon Ranch is the place to be!

Insider Tips for Planning Your Reunion

Make your reservations in advance. Once you ballpark the date, it’s essential to see if accommodations like Weedon Ranch are available to host you. Peak seasons naturally tend to fill up fast, so plan ahead and lock in your dates quickly.

Delegating helps take the load off. Consider making a family group chat and assigning responsibilities like scheduling activities, airport pickups and who will be cooking what. This can help minimize stress.

Not every moment of your family reunion getaway needs to be planned out. Unplanned moments lead to the best memories, so include moments of downtime and rest in the itinerary so that you’re not always on the go.

And for a special moment such as this, why not consider hiring a photographer to take family photos during your reunion in Park City. You won’t regret being able to look at these memories for years to come.

Start Planning Your Reunion with Park City Vacation Rentals

For a family reunion that will go down in the family lore for years, start planning your getaway to Park City. Book your stay at Weedon Ranch with Park City Vacation Rentals today!

Fresh Air Gives Fresh Ideas

A great Park City corporate retreat starts with the setting. Running a business is hard work. Working long hours in the city, hustling to meet deadlines and project goals takes a lot out of you and your team. Getting out of the city and into nature for a while does wonders for the mind and body.

Park City is a utopia of outdoor adventure. Changing your environment to an area like Park City can spark creativity, inspire new innovations, and improve team communication. I mean, when you’re surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, towering trees, and peace and quiet – it’s hard not to feel inspired and motivated.

Activities That Bring Teams Together

When planning your corporate retreat in Park City, you’ll want to plan activities that balance strategy, bonding opportunities and of course, rest. No matter what time of year you visit, there’s always something to do in Park City.

If you plan your corporate retreat in the winter, that’s the time of year when Park City is popping with its winter sports. Deer Valley and Park City Mountain resorts are nearby, which means you can hit the slopes with your teammates! Have shared experiences skiing, snowboarding and tubing down the mountains for memorable moments together.

When the temperatures warm up a bit, the outdoor adventures change to hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and even horseback riding. Get to know your team’s hobbies and interests while experiencing new things together. These activities can help foster a spirit of camaraderie in a way that icebreakers in the office wish they could!

When you’re not seeking outdoor activities, you can visit historic Main Street or Junction Commons to browse the boutiques, art galleries, and retail stores for anything you need. Make reservations to dine at some of the best restaurants in town, including tupelo Park City and Park City Roadhouse Grill. And if you’d like to treat your team to some wellness activities, there are spas and fitness studios in the area where you can do things together to actively enhance overall wellbeing.

Choose Weedon Ranch for the Ultimate Corporate Retreat

Private Bedrooms & Personal Space

Everyone needs a little privacy. The spacious and beautifully appointed bedrooms of Weedon Ranch create the perfect ambiance for sleep. Team members will appreciate having their own space to rest, revive, and be ready for the next day.

You can find all kinds of unique activities and attractions found off the beaten path. Here are five things to do in Park City you probably did not know you could do here:

Book Your Stay Direct!

Stargazing at Jordanelle State Park

The surrounding area of Park City offers an incredible spot where you can easily take in the night sky without overwhelming light pollution getting in the way. This is the joy of smaller areas but Park City has grown in size making stargazing a little harder when staying in town. During your next visit come over to Jordanelle State Park where you can find the perfect space for stargazing. Jordanelle State Park gives you the ideal spot where you will find a dark sky without interfering lights. The park is home to most dark sky events here in the area and is perfect for an evening where you can sit under the stars. Bring your telescope if you happen to have one on hand and simply be amazed by the cosmos. Getting to Jordanelle State Park is a simple short drive from your vacation rental.

Stop by McPolin Farmstead

Whenever you drive in and out of Park City you are sure to see a picture perfect white barn sitting on the hills. McPolin Farmstead, also known as the more simple White Barn, is a picturesque spot where it is frequented by visitors to snap a new Instagram worthy picture at. While the barn is popular itself the surrounding trails are less well known about. These scenic walking trails are the perfect destination when you are looking to avoid the crowds of Main Street. Bring a picnic and sit among the hills to have incredible mountain views in front of you. This farmstead has been around since the 1920s and continues to be a Park City staple worth visiting.

Historic Jail at Park City Museum

Visiting the local museum when you travel somewhere new is a fun way to see the rich history of your destination. Museums provide authentic displays and exhibits where you can have a fun and educational experience. Park City is home to our very own Park City Museum that is well known and frequently visited throughout the year. It is on the smaller side and will take approximately one to two hours to see in full. While the museum is popular there is one section that is frequently overlooked and that is the Historic Jail. This is the actual jail cell of Historic Park City from back during the mining boom. This immersive exhibit is a great way to see how robbers and criminals from over 100 years ago would stay when caught by the law. It is a fascinating experience that is quickly overlooked.

Freestyle Shows at Olympic Park

Here in Park City we are known for our Utah Olympic Park where you will find training programs happening throughout the year. Some of the biggest winter sport athletes come from Park City and it is easy to see why. The Utah Olympic Park is one of the biggest attractions of the year where you can find plenty of sporting facilities. However, one of their lesser known activities are the freestyle shows taking place in the summer. This summer activity features shows where athletes will take on aerial defying tricks before landing in a large swimming pool. It is a thrilling experience and a family friendly activity for everyone to come see!

Bloods Lake

You will find plenty of hiking trails to explore in Park City all throughout the year. The summer months allow the winter snows to melt and open up vast areas to explore. One such area is Bloods Lake that is a nearby alpine lake found near Guardsmen Pass. This quiet lake is accessed through a moderately easy trail that has you exploring open meadows and vast forests. It is a less popular trail so expect a quiet afternoon being surrounded by natural beauty. The lake is a great spot for a picnic and to snap pictures of to help remember your trip by.

Park City Is Home All Year Round

These hidden activities are a great way to plan for your Park City adventure getaway. Make sure to reserve one of our vacation rentals here in the area to prepare. These are luxury homes by the mountains that have no equal here in Park City.

As we look ahead to the summer season, we want to start planning out where we want to take the family next. The summer season offers plenty of opportunities for travel, including over the 4th of July weekend. Our patriotic holiday is the perfect time to see somewhere new such as Park City. While you may best know Park City for being a top winter sports destination, it is also an incredible summer destination. The holiday offers plenty of summer activities and summer events to enjoy. Take a look at how to spend a long weekend of the 4th of July in Park City:

Book a Summer Stay Direct!

4th of July Drone Show

One activity that is always a necessity over the 4th of July is a stunning fireworks show. That is always the first thing that comes to mind when celebrating the holiday. Here in Park City, we do things a little differently; instead of a fireworks show, you will find an incredible drone show on the night of the 4th of July. Just because it is a drone show does not mean you will be disappointed with the experience. Our 4th of July drone show has been conducted for several years now and is a local favorite activity. This type of activity lets the drones come up with stunning aerial displays instead of your typical fireworks bursts. Your kids will be amazed at the shapes taking place in the sky that they have never seen anywhere else. In previous years the drone show has come up with incredible shapes including a pickaxe and mining helmet to highlight Park City’s mining history along with the expected stars and stripes. Park City takes its potential for wildfire seriously and offers a safe and exciting show for all. Don’t miss out on the 4th of July Drone Show taking place on the holiday just after sundown over at Park City Mountain. The drone show is free for everyone to attend!

4th of July 5K

Before you get to the drone show in the evening, you will have quite a few events and activities taking place in the day. First up for the morning is the annual 4th of July 5K to help you get moving right away in the morning. This local event goes back to the early 80s when the 5K was established to support youth athletes. Park City is a city that is unknown for its Olympic development program and the race just further shows the commitment to our youth. The 4th of July 5K is a popular event that maxes out at 1,000 runners each year with each year reaching capacity before the event. Participants are able to register in advance with prices at $30 per child and $50 per adult. Participants will be provided race numbers and t shirts that can be picked up in advance from Cole Sport Park Avenue. Come join this local event that will benefit the Park City Ski & Snowboard where Olympic hopefuls are given world class instruction.

4th of July Parade and Fun

After the race has completed you and the whole family can enjoy a full day of activities taking place right here in Downtown Park City. The fun begins with a flyover that includes historic planes flying over Historic Main Street. This signals the start to the 4th of July in Park City where the city comes together to celebrate our country’s foundation. The 4th of July Parade will then kick off at 11:00 AM that features an abundance of decorated floats marching through the city. Find a viewing spot on Historic Main Street to see this delightful parade take place; the parade is always popular so finding a viewing area early is highly recommended. The parade will continue until it ends nearby City Park where the holiday fun continues.

Starting at 12:30 PM, locals and visitors can head to City Park for a holiday gathering. Food trucks will be on hand selling delicious cuisine for lunch. Live music will be on stage for you to groove with. A rugby game at the park is a local tradition where you can participate or watch this fascinating sport. Kids will find all kinds of games and activities that will keep them busy. Additional activities will continue throughout the day as well with the Forum Fest at Canyons Village at 2:00 PM and Oakley Rodeo at 7:30 PM. You have a jam packed day of fun before the drone show starts around 10:00 PM.

Rest of Your Long Weekend in Park City

In addition to these 4th of July activities, you will have all weekend to relax and check out Park City. Shop and dine along Historic Main Street. Visit Park City Mountain for their mountain coaster and other summer activities. Try out fly fishing at the local rivers. The options are near endless when you spend the 4th of July here in Park City.

We’ll also explore some of Park City’s top summer attractions and explain how staying in a vacation rental from Park City Vacation Rentals can make your summer vacation in Park City an experience to remember!

What to Pack and Wear for a Park City Summer Vacation

You’ve got your suitcase out, and you’re surrounded by clothing everywhere you turn. Each item you think you’re going to pack, you toss to the side – confused and in despair about the weather, experiences you can have, and what to wear on any given day. We’re here to help!

You’re going to want to think in layers when it comes to packing for your summer vacation in Park City. This city is located at over 7,000 feet above sea level, meaning the temperatures can fluctuate quickly and noticeably, even during the summer months. The day might start off with a crisp cool morning, warm up to a sunny 80-degree day and be back to needing a jacket in the evening. This what makes layers key. Dressing in adaptable, layered clothing will keep you comfortable. No matter what the temperature decides to dip to, you’ll be ready.

Daytime Essentials

What do you consider your perfect ensemble? What are the elements? Well, for Park City – you’ll want to consider easy, breathable fabrics that are lightweight, maybe even moisture wicking. These are ideal if you’ll be engaging in the many different outdoor activities for which Park City is known.

Breathable materials help regulate your body temperature and pull sweat away from your skin. These are ideal if you’re going for a hike, mountain bike ride, or even a round of golf. Unlike heavy cotton, performance fabrics and athletic attire can dry quickly – leaving you feeling fresh, even if you’ve worked up a sweat.

Pair tops with flexible hiking shorts, athletic leggings, or lightweight pants made from stretchy, quick-drying materials. Park City’s hiking and biking trails often involve a little bit of rock scrambling, trekking up switchbacks, and possibly some uneven trails. Wearing clothing that moves with you will make a huge difference in your overall comfort and enjoyment. Plus, if after a hike you decide to do a little shopping or dining – having an extra sweater or jacket in the car can level up your outfit to suit the occasion.

Layers Are a Lifesaver

Even when the forecast calls for sunshine, mornings and higher-elevation spots can feel chilly. A lightweight fleece or packable jacket is a must. Simply throw it on when you’re going to grab coffee in town or walk along an early morning trail. As the day warms up and the sun reaches its peak, it’ll be no big deal to peel back that extra layer and stash it away in your backpack or car.

Another key item could be a breathable, waterproof rain jacket or shell. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, and summer showers do happen, bringing a change in winds and temperature. Stay dry and avoid having to cut your Park City adventures short just because it rained. Packing a small packable umbrella could be useful for this reason as well.

Walk Smarter, Not Harder

What you wear on your feet is just as important as any other part of your ensemble. You are bound to do a lot of walking during your summer vacation in Park City. And why not? The weather is beautiful and there’s much to see and do that can be accessed on foot. Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are essential. Think support for your arch, good sole grip, and versatile for any occasion. To explore downtown Park City, walk through farmers markets, festivals and more, you’re going to need the right pair of shoes!

For outdoor activities like hiking, trail running, or biking, you’ll want to consider packing, hiking boots or trail runners with solid grip and ankle support. Trails here can be rocky, steep, or slick with loose gravel. Wearing footwear that provides traction and stability helps prevent slips and sore feet. This means you’ll be able to do more for longer, with the right footwear.

Planning to spend time by the water? Pack water shoes or durable sandals designed to get wet. They’ll save your regular shoes from meeting their soggy demise while offering you better traction on slippery rocks during paddleboarding, tubing, or wading in the cool mountain streams.

Evening Outfits

Going for dinner and drinks downtown? Go on a date looking and feeling your best. Collared shirts paired with jeans or slacks, or easygoing summer dresses, flowy blouses and tops paired with denim or linen pants will help you match the Park City evening vibes.

The trick is to bring versatile pieces that can shift easily from day to evening. A sundress you wore to brunch can work just as well at a patio dinner with the addition of a light cardigan and simple jewelry. Or that polo shirt you wore to play golf can be transformed with the addition of some dark wash jeans. Have fun with it. Plan out your itinerary and mix and match outfits so you can pack lighter.

Don’t Underestimate the Need for Sun Protection

It’s summer. Everyone wants to work on their tan and there’s nothing wrong with giving yourself a golden glow. However, you’ll want to keep in mind that the sun feels very strong at higher elevations. Being 7000 feet (or 2,134 meters) above sea level means UV exposure is more intense, and sunburns can sneak up on you quickly if you don’t take precautions.

Pack high SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen and apply it generously before heading outdoors, and remember to reapply throughout the day. Sunglasses with UV protection are a must, as the bright sunlight reflecting off mountain slopes and lakes can be surprisingly harsh on your eyes. A wide-brimmed sunhat, fedora or cap would also be a smart item to include on your packing list, keeping you stylish and shady for your summer days in the sunshine.

A Final Tip: Pack Smart, Stay Flexible

With a thoughtfully packed bag full of comfortable, practical, and versatile clothing, you’ll be ready to experience all that Park City has to offer – in any weather, rain or shine!  Giving a little thought to your packing list will help you to be ready for whatever your summer days in Park City may bring.

Additional Items to Pack

Beyond your daily clothes, make room in your suitcase for gear that enhances your summer in Park City.

Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during hikes and save money on single-use plastic bottles. Often you can fill up before you head out for the day and fill up at water stations or if you dine out at restaurants.

A compact backpack will be great for carrying items you need for long days out, like a sweater or jacket for later in the evening. You can also store daily essentials, snacks, binoculars for wildlife watching, and a camera to capture those summer moments.

Don’t forget to pack swimwear! If you choose the right vacation rental, like the ones from Park City Vacation Rentals, there’s a chance you might have an on-site pool or hot tub to use. Swimsuits are also necessary for outdoor excursions like rafting, tubing, or swimming in the lakes and rivers of Park City.

When it comes to daily essentials, consider adding a small first aid kit to your list along with insect repellent. This will help you ward off any intruding bugs and handle any small cuts or bruises that arise when doing any outdoor activities.

Summer Adventures in Park City

Park City is home to an incredible variety of things to do outside in summer.

Biking is definitely a summer activity you’ll want to try during your visit. With over 400 miles of scenic trails for mountain biking and paved routes for road cyclists, there’s a path for every rider. Rent a bike locally or bring your own. Travel through trails that wind along wildflower meadows, mine sites, and shady forests.

Are you an angler? Get in some good fly fishing in nearby rivers like the Provo and Weber, where the fish are biting and the views are spectacular. If you are just getting into the sport, guided fly-fishing tours are available to help you learn the ropes in Park City.  Whitewater rafting and other water sports are also popular this time of year. If you want something a little else intense, try paddleboarding or kayaking.

When you’re ready to hit the trails on a hike, choose from trails like the Armstrong Trail, Silver Lake Trail, and Bloods Lake Loop are all favorites that will challenge you while immersing you in the summer beauty of Park City.

You can also take in Park City in out-of-the-box ways like horseback riding or hot air balloon rides. Go with a local guide on a guided horseback ride through the forest or take to the skies in a hot air balloon ride with any of the various balloon companies in the area.

There’s also the thrill of a zipline ride or alpine coaster at Park City Mountain Resort. Speed through the trees or race downhill on tracks that twist and turn – a great new way to have fun outdoors this summer. With so many outdoor activities, now you can see why it’s essential to pack wisely!

Where to Stay? Park City Vacation Rentals!

Stay in a vacation rental that feels like home with the property professionals at Park City Vacation Rentals. Where you stay can make or break your summer vacation. Would you rather have a typical, run of the mill hotel stay? Or stay in a vacation rental that’s spacious, beautifully designed and equipped with the amenities that make your summer vacation amazing? Take a look at the top things to do during a Park City Memorial Day Weekend:

Get to Hiking

Memorial Day Weekend is the official start of summer, so you might as well get outside and see what makes it different in Park City. With the snow gone you can finally enjoy the local hiking trails. There are quite a few different trails that can be accessed close to Park City. The top rated trail is found over at Bloods Lake Trail. This 2.8-mile trail takes under an hour and a half to complete and will provide beautiful views of the lake. Additional trails worth checking out include Holly’s Trail found over on the ski hill in the area and has a good amount of shade for this longer trek. Make sure to pack your hiking boots as most trails in the area are rated moderate for difficulty.

Scenic Gondola Rides

With the snow gone you can enjoy a gondola ride that will take you up to the peak. The views along the way are some of the best in the valley. The gondola can be found over at Park City Mountain with a round trip pass that will take you up to the top and back down. Once you are at the top you can take in the panoramic views of the area, a view well worth the cost of admission. Ride the gondola back down to continue on with your holiday weekend.

Park City Rafting

Memorial Day Weekend is a great time to try something new out with the whole family. If you are looking for an adventurous activity out in the wild consider trying your hand at river rafting. Park City is close to the Weber River where you can enjoy a guided rafting tour from professionals. Rafting will have you paddling down the river as you take on rapids with the crew. You will feel exhilarated and ready to take on your next challenge. For those who prefer a more relaxing experience on the water consider tubing. Barefoot Tubing is the top tubing company here in the area with over 20 years of experience. You will be provided water tube rentals where you can casually float down the river. You will be shuttled to your starting destination so you can easily arrive back at your car when the trip is done. All equipment is provided to you so you can simply show up and enjoy the views.

Go Ziplining

One activity that the whole family is guaranteed to love is zip lining and you can find several places in the area to do that. Park City Mountain opens up their supper ZipRider where you can race against friends or family 110 feet up in the area. This mountain zip line course has you going at speeds up to 45 miles per hour over the mountain bike trails. You will be able to take in the incredible views along with experience the thrill of speed. There is also the Flying Eagle Zip Line that is a seated zip line course that is open year round. Regardless of what you choose you will find that zip lining in Park City to be an incredible experience.
